audi a6 avant
The A6 Avant is the largest station wagon in Audi’s vast lineup. It features the same luxury features and technology as its sedan counterpart, albeit at a considerable premium of $6,000. Visually quite similar to the sedan, the wagon features a high shoulder line, narrow window area, and sloping roofline.
While the sedan can be ordered with V8 power, the Avant comes with a V6 powerplant only. The 3.2-liter engine delivers 255 horsepower at 6500 rpm and 243 pound-feet of torque at 3250 rpm. The A6 can be ordered with a seven-speed multitronic CVT transmission or a regular six-speed automatic.
The wagon recieved a signifcant ‘facelift’ for the 2009 model year onward, with a mildly revised front end and a heavily restyled rear. The rear is characterized by new taillights, complete with LED clusters that provide better reliability, visability, and asthetics.
The taillights have been augmented with R8-inspired lenses that effectively cut through the haze of blowing snow. The facelift also consist of a slightly redesigned front bumper, new rectangular fog lamps and larger air-intakes left and right of the grille.
The A6 can be ordered with a seven-speed multitronic CVT transmission or a regular six-speed automatic. (All-wheel-drive is not available on the CVT model.)
The Avant model increase the A6′s cargo volume to 20 cubic feet with the seats in place and 58.6 cu.ft. with the rear seats folded. The luggage area features two securing rails that are recessed into the floor. They are fitted with four sliding, adjustable, and lockable load-retaining lugs that can be used to secure items of almost any size.
For the first time on an Audi wagon, an optional automatic tailgate that opens and closes at the push of a button is available. The opening process can also be initiated remotely by pressing the button on the car key.
High-tech features include active bi-xenon headlights that point in the direction of a corner, and the new Multi Media Interface (MMI) that provides access to settings for in-car entertainment, satellite navigation, climate control, suspension configuration, and so on.
